ITDC awarded ‘Fastest Growing Miniratna Award’ at 7th DSIJ PSU Annual Awards
New Delhi, 27 April 2016 – ITDC has been awarded with the 7th Dalal Street Investment Journal’s Best PSU Awards for 2015 under ‘Fastest Growing Miniratna’ title. The award was presented by Hon’ble Minister of State (independent charge) for Tourism and Culture and Civil Aviation, Dr Mahesh Sharma at the 7th Dalal Street Investment Journal PSU awards 2015 held at The Ashok, New Delhi.
Receiving the honor on behalf of ITDC, Shri Umang Narula dedicated this achievement to his colleagues, the employees at the organization. “Ever since ITDC came into existence in 1966, it has seen many changes and we still remain as beautiful as ever. Piyush Tiwari, Director (Commercial & Marketing), ITDC conferred PATWA International Award 2016 for Best Professional- Business Development (Tourism)
New Delhi, 14 April 2016 – Director- Commercial and Marketing, ITDC Shri Piyush Tiwari has been awarded with PATWA International Award 2016 for the Best Professional in Business Development Tourism. The award was presented at the recently concluded ITB Berlin, world’s leading travel trade show at Germany, by Mr. Taleb D Refai, Secretary General United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Hailed as one of the highest honors in the industry- PATWA International Awards is one of the most reputed awards honoring excellence in tourism, aviation and hospitality sector under more than 50 categories including awards for best professionals in tourism, aviation and hospitality sector, best individuals, hotels, destinations, hotels and airlines among others. The Ashok hosts legendary Australian runner Patrick Farmer in New Delhi
March 31, 2016, New Delhi: Hotel The Ashok, New Delhi is proud to host veteran Australian ultra-marathon legend Mr. Patrick Farmer. The ex-parliamentarian of Australia and motivational speaker concluded his epic 4600 km the Spirit of India run from Kanyakumari to Kashmir yesterday in Srinagar after 64 days of running, crossing deserts, beaches, mountains, thunderstorms, snow, heat and drenching rain.
Mr Farmer and his team of 7 members were welcomed at The Ashok, New Delhi by Shri Piyush Tiwari, Director (Commercial and Marketing), ITDC, Ms Sujata Thakur, General Manager (Corporate Marketing and Public Relations), The Ashok, Ms Sudha Chandra, General Manager, The Ashok and Mr Vijay Dutt, Deputy General Manager, The Ashok along with officials of Ministry of Tourism.
The Spirit of India run began 64 days ago on January 26, 2016 in Kanyakumari with an objective to strenghten relations between the two countries, motivate and connect with the people of India along with raising funds for the education of girl child in India through the ‘Nanhi Kali foundation’.

ITDC profit surges 264.86% buoyed by strong performance in
Board of Directors have recommended Dividend of 20% amounting to Rs.17.15 crore
India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, posted a robust performance for the financial year 2014-15. Total turnover stood at Rs.504.19 cr as compared to Rs.469.58 cr last year clocking a growth of 7.4%. While there was a surge of 226.48% in profit before tax (PBT) at Rs.38.95 cr from Rs.11.93 cr in the previous year, the profit after tax (PAT) surged by 264.86% at Rs.34.37 cr in the FY 2014-15 compared to Rs.9.42 cr same time previous year.
This was announced in the Board Meeting of the company held on 29th May at the Group’s flagship hotel, The Ashok, New Delhi.
FY 2014-15 has been an interesting year for ITDC. The threefold profit is the result of several proactive initiatives taken by the organization in the beginning of the year. The organisation took all necessary steps to keep the operational cost under control and also ensured that the topline is pushed higher through different innovative marketing measures.
The Ashok group of hotels has performed remarkably well; the overall occupancy of the hotels has increased from 43% in FY 2013-14 to 55% in FY 2014-15 making a profit of Rs.10.75 Cr. In addition all three Delhi hotels: The Ashok, Samrat and Janpath have also showed very good performance and clocked profit. The Ashok in particular which was in loss by Rs.13 Cr in FY 2013-14 has made a turnaround by posting profit in this financial year 2014-15 thus, paving the way for a very positive outlook in the forthcoming year.
